Vainglorious Contrition is a haunting and deeply personal centerpiece. Created during a period of intense physical pain and structural shoulder damage, this piece was rendered using the artist’s non dominant hand. It is a raw, visceral depiction of grief and the duality of a life in transition.
The composition features a skull caught in a moment of profound mourning, representing the loss of a version of oneself that no longer fits. It explores the tension between a life that feels finished and the skeletal longing to begin again. The deep pyrography and dark, atmospheric ink washes create a sense of being submerged in that grief, while the "lefty" linework brings an unfiltered, honest energy to the bone structure.
