"Priestess" is a devotional portrait of a Black woman with long box braids, pupil-less eyes, a lotus crown, and a gold ankh pendant, set against a mosaic leaf border in sage, copper, and slate. The golden arched background frames her like an icon. She is one.
This entire piece was painted, burned, and drawn with the artist's left hand while her dominant right arm was in a sling. Every braid, every stippled leaf, every line of her face.
